ATU MakerSpace collaborates with EU Green delegation

ATU MakerSpace is delighted to be collaborating with members from the EU Green Alliance at ATU MakerSpace’s facility on the Sligo campus this week.

Following an introduction to the facility by Higher Education 4.0 Innovation Projects Manager Noel Mulkeen last week, the visitors joined facilitator Hassan Dabbagh on Friday, as Hassan showcased the best ATU MakerSpace has to offer when it comes to working creatively within the STEM subjects, which includes exploring new ways to improve sustainability.

ATU MakerSpace will continue to work with the delegation today (Monday) and Tuesday.

Higher Education 4.0 Innovation Projects Manager Noel Mulkeen said: “MakerSpace is delighted to be working with EU Green and helping students from five different countries and various disciplines compete in this important challenge.”

EU GREEN Alliance is a network of nine European universities, collaborating to strengthen Europe’s diverse communities. EU Green believes in empowering society through education, research, and innovation to create a fairer, more sustainable future.

Their mission is to drive positive change, making sustainability central to everything they do. They go beyond building a European University: they equip students, researchers, and communities with the tools to tackle global challenges while strengthening local ecosystems.

Indeed, the EU Green Alliance is creating a European educational and research hub where sustainability is embedded across disciplines. By working together, they seek to amplify impact, promote European values, and ensure that all regions – especially those often overlooked – thrive in an inclusive and resilient Europe.

Funded by Higher Education 4.0 under the Human Capital Initiative (HCI) Pillar 3, ATU MakerSpace is a pioneering initiative that fosters technology and creativity within ATU and beyond, inspiring the next generation of students to embrace STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as dynamic educational pathways and career opportunities.
